This international event, the 8th edition of BERLINER LISTE 2011, fair for
contemporary art and photography, represent an opportunity to promote them in a
mixed artistic environment, galleries and individual artists.
The romanian GRUP 3+1, group of artists whose exhibition activity is already quite rich, is composed of Felix Aftene who is also the curator of the project, Claudiu CiobanuZamfira Barzu and Gabriela Drinceanu.

Felix Aftene, "the cult of the bull" ,oil on canvas
About Artists:
Felix Aftene , born in 1972 in Vaslui , graduated Fine Arts Academy “George Enescu” from Iasi, and has a
impressive portfolio of numerous participation at national and international art exhibitions and his works are
found in private collections in Romania, Grece, France, Russia, Germany, Canada, Syria, Spain, Belgium, the
UK, Poland, Italy, Switzerland.
His artistic discourse derives from the emotion and astonishment caused by human diversity. He seeks to give
shape to human spirit and to its forms of communication.
“With each piece of work I aim to recover parts of an imaginary world that has eluded the cycle of birth and
death, the world of mythological beings.”

Claudiu Ciobanu, "blank space project" oil on canvas

Claudiu Ciobanu, born in 1984 in Barlad, graduated University of Fine Arts “George Enescu” Iasi, and in
2007 won a scolarship at University of Salamanca Spain.
Since 2007 he developed an intense activity as a result, his works are part of various private collections in
Romania, Liechtenstein and Spain.
Artistic statement consists in a contextualization of images drawn from real in order to divert their original
meaning, images to which by the plastic and conceptual interventions, are given new meanings that sensitizes
visual perception.
Figurative theme doesn’t mean figuration of the real, but transfiguration by painting of specific situations, feelings, states of spirit.

Zamfira Birzu  "dream", mixed media on canvas

Zamfira Birzu, born in 1964 in Suceava, graduated University of Fine Arts Iasi, research scolarship at
National Library of Rome, Italy.
Since 1990 has a notable presence on the romanian art scene. Her works shows a vivid interest
for the human morphology and for the mythology of different cultures .This is most of a lyrical form of perception about human in a timeless condition, a condition without historical contextualization.

Gabriela Drinceanu "angel game" mixed media

Gabriela Drinceanu, born in 1968 in Iasi, graduated University of Fine Arts Iasi, School of Monumental Art
by the Romanian Patriarchate, and she have a prestigious artistic activity.
Instead of artist statement, these are some critical considerations about her work.
In general, her art is a continuous challenge of all sorts of cultural references stored throughout time in the
visual memory of humanity.
The artist is declared fascinated by the anatomical fragmenation from which results an expressive and
personal repertoire of abridged gestures.
The physiological changes in the corporal evolution can not elude the myth, being represented as an initiating path, as a n adventure controlled by story-telling, by narrative stations.

About physicality, spirit and mythology
These may be some common working elements to the four artists, but it’s not just that.
It’s not about figurative, wooden angels and story telling, it’s about transfiguration by art.
In this diverse context of the contemporary art, their art is a refuge for the soul of the beholder.

About the Grup 3+1, Iasi
’’Grup3’’ is one of the most dynamic young groups with a remarkable activity in the last years both at an
artistic level and at a broader, cultural level, by the concern for organizing complex event, such as
exhibitions and creation symposiums. With regard to the stylistic coherence of the group, it is rather based
on a mutual attitude towards the patrimony of the Eastern European traditions and by its receptiveness to
the modalities of renewing language and behavior, smoothed down by the programmatic keeping of the
relationship on traditional supports. Constantly present with works specific to the genre that define them,
they practice sometimes forms of action, show, extension in the environmental space, that completes their
way of investigating the reality and investing it culturally.
