The LISTE - The Young Art Fair in Basel is proud to look back on 15 years of great success. What began in 1996 on the initiative of young gallerists has developed into one of the world's most important fairs for new galleries and emerging art. David Zwirner from New York, Massimo de Carlo of Milan, Maureen Paley of London, neugerriemschneider of Berlin, Emi Fontana of Milan and Andréhn Chiptjenko of Stockholm belong to those pioneer galleries who were there at the beginning - all of them who can be counted among the most well-established in the art market today.
The 15th anniversary edition of LISTE - The Young Art Fair in Basel will take place from June 15-20, 2010. Again this year, LISTE will be offering its guests truly remarkable discoveries. Our expert jury has selected 64 galleries from 21 countries from a pool of 350 applications. We will be introducing 13 galleries for the first time at our fair. A number of galleries will be returning to LISTE after successful appearances at Statements at Art Basel. Thus, the most interesting galleries of the younger generation will be represented at LISTE.
The redtoo Art Prize will be awarded for the first time. We are very pleased to have the opportunity to present a second prize - along with the art prize from the Nationale Suisse Insurance Company. The winning gallery will be selected by an international expert jury. The prize includes payment of stand costs and the purchase of a work of art.
Galleries of LISTE 15
In this anniversary year we will be presenting 64 galleries from 21 countries selected by our expert jury from among over 350 applicants. Among them are 11 galleries from Germany, 10 from the US, 8 from Great Britain, 6 from France, 4 from Holland, 3 from Italy and Switzerland, 2 each from Austria, Belgium, Poland, Poland, Romania and Sweden as well as 1 each from China, Greece, Hungary, Ireland, Lithuania, Mexico, Norway, Spain and Turkey. Along with group presentations limited to several artists, 19 solo presentations will be presented, including James Beckett with Wilfried Lentz (Rotterdam), Chen Wei with Platform China (Beijing), and Juliette Blightman with Hotel from London.
Visitor interest will be piqued by the 13 galleries from 10 countries making their LISTE debut. Among them are Elisa Platteau (Brussels), Platform China (Beijing), Carlos Cardenas (Paris), Gaudel de Stampa (Paris), Chert (Berlin), Lüttgenmeijer (Berlin), Supportico Lopez (Berlin), Limoncello (London), Fluxia (Milan), Labor (Mexico D.F), Johan Berggren (Malmö), Karma International (Zurich) and Altman Siegel from San Francisco.
Several galleries will return to LISTE after a successful appearance at Statements at Art Basel last year. In this way, these galleries, including Galleria Fonti (Naples), Raster (Warsaw), Hotel, and Herald St. (London), and Juliette Jongma (Amsterdam), will continue to be represented with important positions in Basel.
