Anca Brânzaș is a traveller: she comes from Oradea and has been studying painting in cities like
Timișoara, Bucharest and Cluj, not to mention the fact that she has recently returned from Macerata,
Italy, where she had a scholarship. But wherever she goes, she takes with her, in her work, an entire horde
of ominous characters that seem to be gazing at the viewer from their limbo of displacement. They are
crowded like in a family photo, reminding us of many historical scenes of strangers sticking together, in
need of the warmth of the other.
One of the objections that can be made towards painting is that it is confined, bound to the square of the
canvas and constrained to listen to its limiting rules, and therefore becoming self-absorbed, a bit autistic,
incapable to properly engage with the world. For Anca I had a challenge: to fill our space with her forest
of people, making the viewer feel the one confined in a narrow space, surrounded by a realm that could
go on without an end. As in a painting, the world one inhabits is shaped by its unperceived boundary.

Anca Brânzaș este o călătoare: vine din Oradea, a studiat pictura în Timișoara, București și Cluj, și tocmai
s-a intors dintr-o bursă din Macerata, Italia. Dar oriunde ar merge, ea duce cu sine în lucrările sale o
mulțime de personaje stranii care te țintuiesc cu privirea din ținutul lor fantomatic. Sunt aglomerate ca
într-o fotografie de familie, amintindu-ne de multe scene istorice cu străini care se lipesc unii de alții în
căutarea căldurii.
Una din criticile care se pot aduce picturii este faptul că este închisă în pătratul pânzei și constrânsă
să asculte de regulile ei limitative, devenind astfel absorbită de sine, puțin autistă, incapabilă să
interacționeze semnificativ cu lumea. Pentru Anca am avut o provocare: să umple spațiul nostru cu
padurea ei de oameni, făcând privitorul să se simtă cel închis într-un spațiu strâmt, înconjurat de un tărâm
care ar putea continua la nesfarșit. La fel ca într-o pictură, lumea în care trăim e modelată de granița ei
nepercepută.
